I finished 'The Giver' today. It was a really fun read, especially after reading 'Anthem.' This society was a bit more believable than Anthem's - up until the Receiver part. Anthem's great, but I spent much of it wondering how so many people would let themselves live like that. It's more believable in The Giver where people are assigned to something like families and individuality isn't completely and wholly punished.
There was a lot that was disturbing about The Giver society, but most of all I would hate to live where I'm expected to take libido-killing pills. Yeah, never ever.

I bought The Giver last night and I am halfway through it. Interesting to read another book about a very very structured society right after Anthem...
Oh, and yeah-I am with you on the pills-NEVER EVER! EVER! EVER....
