My reactions so far
Hi everyone. I have been fairly useless to this book club due to the fact that I rarely read lately. I finally picked up the book last night and read the first two chapters. As I was reading I couldn't help wondering if I had never seen the movie what my reaction would be to everything. I think of any book out there this one's movie did the best job of making the characters so endearing. Jessica, have you seen the movie? I am wondering if haven't if that is why you react to Anne the way you do with her endless chattering. Could the movie not have found a better Anne, Marilla, and Matthew, even Rachel was the perfect actress? I think if the movie had been made today it would flop because those characters were just right and nobody else could play their parts as well. Anyway, I haven't read too far into the book so I can't say much, but I am loving reading it. I have read it before, but I listened to it on cd and so reading it to myself is a bit of a different experience.

To answer your question, I have seen the movie, but not for a very long time and I didn't remember what happened. I don't think I was extraordinarily fond of it. The only part I remember is when she got Diana drunk, and I didn't like the "bosom friend" and all the "I love you so passionately" statements. I thought it was very odd and I wouldn't have liked anyone to tell me that, so it made me uncomfortable. I also thought it was odd that she kissed girls. Sad, but that was my young interpretation.
Thanks for commenting. I really appreciate being able to discuss it rather than putting it out into the void of no response. Maybe I'll try the movie again, but I don't know if I can convince Bret to watch it.
