I loved it. I was amazed at Lowry's fantasy / disutopic worldbuiling and then just as impressed at the historical worldbuilding in 'Number the Stars'. It really takes talent to fit that much in that little space.
I really liked both books. I found The whole idea of The Giver intriguing. It was interesting how it played out and frankly left me wanting to know more-what next? What happened to the community after?! What happened to the characters after? Very interesting book.
I also have always liked Number the Stars. As I said before, I LOVE historical fiction, adn am quite intrigued by the WWII stories. Especially the stories of heroism. I loved this book and the way things worked. I loved the rich fictional characters Lowry invented and put into this real situation (with license of course).
And as Laura said, it take talent to fit that much in a little space. I was impressed and wondered what else Lowry has written-I would be interested to read more of her.
Good pick Andrea! Now on to Cider House as soon as I can get it!
