I am Laura. I am friends with Beckee. We knew each other in high school. Actually I don't think we ever even had a class together, but we knew of each other. At our ten year reunion time we found each others blogs and have been commenting back and forth and keeping up with one another. I am a huge blogging fan. I love to read blogs and write on several of mine. I blog at I am Laura and Photography Learning Journal.
I married a guy named Ben who actually went to high school with Beckee and I. He and I started dating after he came home from a mission and were married super fast. Then he went to medical school in Ohio and I felt like I must follow. This then led to us living in Indiana for residency. We are the same year in "school" as Beckee and Wes. Ben went into orthopaedic surgery and we have four years left in his residency. We have two kids and one on the way. Ally is four and very fun. I started teaching her to read lately and it will be good for her to see mommy reading for pleasure once in a while. James is my second baby and is two. He tends to be my trial in life, but is starting to grow up a little and is finally starting to talk. Our baby is due at the end of March and I hope I can handle a third.
I went to the University of Utah and earned a degree in elementary education. I now tutor different kids in an after school program as well as through my tutoring service company I started, but don't have many clients. I am working on getting more jobs, but the economy seems to be slowing down the rate at which people are willing to pay for their children to get more help. Since I love elementary education it also comes that I love children's books. My husband always makes fun of me that my book shelf contains almost exclusively books written for fifth graders. My favorite books are The Giver and really anything by Lois Lowry, Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan and Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine. I tend to hate books written for teenagers like The Twilight Series and The Traveling Pants Series, but don't let that sway your choices because I am really willing to read anything.
I am excited to get to know all of you and to start reading a bit more again. I think this will be very fun!

Nice to meet you, Laura! It seems we have a lot in common. The Giver is also one of my favorite books.
I think the 'Twilight' Series has more wrong with it than just it being written for teenagers. Heh.
Good to meet you!
I missed all of these introductions and am now just finding them, so sorry for the late response. But I really loved Ella Enchanted, too. The movie was horrendous!!! But the book was fun.
